Peckham is fast becoming one of London’s most ‘up and coming’ areas. With new cafes, restaurants, shops and bars opening up regularly you will want to add Peckham to your list of places to check out. I’ve lived in Peckham for a while now so figure it was time I put together a Neighbourhood Guide to Peckham so you can see how the locals live!
– Brick House –
Brickhouse Bakery has been a firm favourite among the bread lovers of Peckham and East Dulwich for a number of years, but a while ago opened a beautiful cafe space on Zenoria Street that has shown locals they are much more than just a bakery.
There is no better place to begin a day of exploring, the minimal space invites you in and has you wanting to stay for hours. The fantastic menu includes favourites such as avocado on freshly baked toast, boiled eggs with soldiers, granola, grilled cheese, and much to the delight of this coffee-loving girl they also know how to make the perfect cup of coffee – using Square Mile beans!
Not one to be missed!
I’ve also done a more in-depth review of Brick House here if you’re interested.

– The Fresh Flower Workshop –
After you have enjoyed breakfast and coffee at Brick House I suggest wandering two minutes up the road to visit the lovely Fresh Flower Workshop. The beautiful workshop space is bursting with houseplants, flowers and other goodies for your home – the perfect place to pick up a gift (for someone else or yourself!).
The workshop is their second space, the main flower shop is located on North Cross Road a few minutes walk away.
They also run regular flower arranging classes here, giving you the chance to get creative and learn how to work with flowers and foliage!

Making your way down to the ‘gem’ of Peckham, Bellenden Road, make sure you stop in at the General Store – a much fancier place to do your grocery shopping than plain old Tescos! You can even grab yourself a takeaway Workshop coffee, what more could you need.

The people of Peckham seem to love plants about as much as they love their coffee, lucky there are plenty of places to find yourself a little, green friend here. Quaint and Belle always has a great selection of cacti, succulents and flowers to choose from – alongside plenty of great home-ware pieces to fill your flat with!

– Old Spike Roastery –
If the sun is shining there is nothing like a wander through Peckham Rye, expect maybe a wander through Peckham Rye WITH a coffee and Crosstown Doughnut from Old Spike Roastery. A tiny little space, located just on the edge of the park, Old Spike opened in early 2015 and were a welcome addition to the growing coffee scene in Peckham. The beans are roasted on site and not only do they make great latte, they are also a not-for-profit with their mission being to help the local homeless community. Which means you don’t have to feel too bad about spending another £2 on coffee…
Make sure you treat yourself to a Crosstown Doughnut, you won’t regret it!

– Franks –
After a day of exploring, coffee-ing, eating and plant buying you might feel like a drink, if so I suggest you get yourself up to Franks – a rooftop bar located on the 10th floor of a car park. Some might say that is a strange place for a bar but once you get to the top and see the view overlooking the city you will understand why!
Franks is only open during the summer months and is one of the most popular places in Peckham so be sure to check it out for yourself.
