I’m not sure what it was about Denmark that initially enticed me. Most people spend their holidays seeking out sunshine and warmth but the idea of grey skies and chilly days exploring the streets of Copenhagen certainly did not put me off.
We arrived to an overcast grey sky, as predicted the sun was not going to be joining us during this visit. Rugged up in coats, scarfs and hats we successfully navigated our way to our wonderful airbnb flat in Norrebro, an area we had been informed was full of restaurants, cafes and independent shops. As you may know I spend a great deal of my time seeking out good coffee and beautiful cafes, and the two wonderful friends I was travelling with are exactly the same – most people come to see the sights but we also came to see the cafes. Luckily for us beautiful cafe spaces aren’t a shortage in Copenhagen, the Danes know how to style interiors and it quickly became apparent that this was my dream city.
Once we had unloaded our bags and got our bearings we set out in search of the first cafe of many to come, The Coffee Collective. There seems to be a bit of a cult following when it comes to The Coffee Collective, anytime we asked the locals where to go the answer was always this. They actually have three locations across the city and each are great in their own way. The first one we visited was located just down the road from us on a street called Jaegersborggade, which is lined with all those amazing independent shops and cafes I mentioned before! If you’re visiting Copenhagen I highly recommend taking the time to visit this street, it’s a little out of the way but so worth it. The Coffee Collective located here is the smallest of the three but still lovely, we took our time and enjoyed our coffee while figuring out the plan for our first day in Copenhagen.
The next day we visited their second location in the Torvehallerne food market, here you’ll find their coffee shop in a large glass walled market place. It took us a while to hunt this place down but we don’t give up easily and it was eventually found. We grabbed a coffee and some delicious cinnamon buns from Laura’s Bakery (or Rachel’s Bakery as my friend kept calling it), which is just over the way from Coffee Collective, I’m still dreaming of going back there for another pastry! Take some time to wander around the food market while you’re here, you bound to pick up a few tasty treats.
On our last full day in Copenhagen we finally visited the last of the three and the one that stole our hearts, this place holds all of my cafe dreams. Located down Godthåbsvej in Frederiksberg, this little gem was what we had been searching for (we didn’t actually realise there were three different cafes when we first got to Copenhagen!). The wonderful Kinfolk magazine featured this location and we knew we couldn’t leave Copenhagen without finding it, and boy am I glad we did. The stunning exterior building will entice you in but the real showstopper is the well designed interior, if you like Scandinavian design then you are in for a real treat. The space also houses the roastery, with a large glass window looking in from the main cafe. Surprisingly it was relatively quiet, it was a weekend and yet we still managed to easily snag a seat without waiting – an unimaginable idea for us London dwelling folk. Having this place as my local cafe would be enough to make me move to Copenhagen (let alone the fact that this city is perfect).
If you are ever in Copenhagen make the time to visit any (or all!) of these three cafes, they are the perfect spot to re-energise yourself after wandering the stunning streets of Copenhagen.

I wish I drank coffee because there are too many cute places around! It was freezing on my visit to Copenhagen as well but the streets are so nice to wander around.

You can always just go to admire the space 😉 Sometimes I wonder if I go for the coffee or just to see the pretty cafes, I think it's a bit of both!!

(ps – those cinnamon buns were actually the best thing in the world! We had to get two each because we couldn't decide between the one with chocolate or the one without!)
