After many a month of searching I finally discovered what would be the perfect local cafe, the only problem, I was due to move in 2 weeks!
Fowlds is tucked away down a quiet residential street, so quiet in fact I didn’t come across it for almost the entire five or so months I was living just down the road. But once I finally made my first visit it was love at sight (sip…).
The day started off fairly normal, coffee with friends at another new cafe that had opened in the Camberwell area (seriously, what’s with all the cafes opening as I leave?!), when it was decided we would visit a second cafe for the day. Now we all know my idea of a good weekend involves multiple coffees, so of course I was all for it. As we got closer I realised that this cafe was extremely close to my flat, less than a 5 minute walk! After much disappointed with other cafes in the area I crossed all my fingers and toes in hopes that maybe, just maybe, I had found the one. As turns out it was in fact find the one, and I got to enjoy two weeks of bliss knowing this beauty was just down the road before it was all ripped away from me. Ok, that might be slightly dramatic… I’m actually still within walking distances of Fowlds, just not 5 minutes.
This inconspicuous cafe, which is also home to an upholstery workshop out the back, will really take you by surprise. Located on the corner of the lovely Addington Square in Camberwell, this relatively small cafe has become a very strong contender as my favourite. Step inside and the beautifully done urban/rustic mixed interior will scoop you up and immediately make you feel at home, the coffee is excellent, the food delicious and to top it all off the staff are lovely! During my first visit it was quite busy but the wonderful owner pulled out another table for us so that we didn’t have to wait, now that’s service!
This is the type of cafe you could bring a good book, or a notebook and pen, and spend hours soaking up the beautiful atmosphere. The lovely outdoor seating is a great place to enjoy the good weather, and I am sure it will be just as nice sitting cosy inside once the colder weather moves in. I’ve heard there is even a resident cat, although I am yet to meet it!
If you’re in the area I definitely recommend checking this little beauty out, and if you’re not in the area? Well it’s time to get yourself there!

EMMA!! I feel like I've been so absent from the comment section of your blog lately! I'm still reading them though and soaking up all I can of your glamourous London life. Can't wait to go cafe hunting with you over there. This one looks so lovely 🙂

If you hunt there are so many amazing independent cafes around London, I was really surprised by the growing coffee scene here!
