Today I am going to let you in on a little secret, my regular coffee provider and what is quite possibly one of the best coffees in London. Funny story first, when I first arrived in London this snazzy little spot in Clerkenwell was the very first cafe I visited. It was love at first sight and by the time I took my first sip of that beautiful latte I knew in my heart this was going to be a regular place of mine, what I didn’t realise was just how much of a regular I would become here. You see, a few days after my first visit I had a job interview and while hurrying along to find the office building I stumbled past Workshop, I thought to myself how convenient would it be to have amazing coffee on my direct route to work!
Well I happened to be offered said job and I can’t make any promises that the allure of good coffee on the reg wasn’t a large part of my decision to take the job… Haha kidding, but seriously I am practically forced to walk past this place every day and often times it really is just too hard to resist. Not so great for my bank account but perfect for this coffee loving girl.
Workshop has a very hip vibe to it, I guess saying ‘hip’ makes me incredibly unhip. I mostly visit during the during the morning rush and the place is usually filled with young professional/creative types looking for their morning coffee fix, and I commend them all for choosing this extraordinary place! Although I wouldn’t mind a slightly shorter queue for those mornings when I’ve left the house just a little too late.
The staff at Workshop are some of the loveliest I’ve come across, the morning barista always makes sure to have a little chat with everyone as they pass by and place their order and it reminds me of the friendly cafe service I would come across back home in New Zealand. But the main thing that draws me back time and time again will always be the great coffee, they just know how to do it!
The interior is impeccable as well, we all know I am a lover of light and bright spaces and Workshop is slightly darker than my usual tastes but if you snag a spot by the front window you’re good to go. The white tiles in the entry way were enough to make me fall in love before I even sat down, and the brick walls inside sealed the deal.
Workshop Coffee Co roast their own coffee which definitely gives them an edge above many other cafes. Plus along side their Clerkenwell cafe they have three other coffeebars, including the very new addition in Fitzrovia. I am actually yet to visit any of the others but they are certainly on my ever-growing list!
If you decide to check Workshop out you will not be disappointed – 10/10 from me!
You will find them at 27 Clerkenwell Road, London.
The closest underground station is Farringdon and there are plenty of buses that pass by!
