Last week on a whim I decided it was time for me to head to Paris, it was a long weekend I had some money set aside and I had no other plans. The time was perfect so on Thursday I booked a Eurostar ticket and that was that, I was off to sweet Paris!
Since it was a last minute decision I didn’t have time to find out if any of my lovely friends on this side of the world wanted to tag along so I was going it alone! To be honest this didn’t really bother me (not that I don’t love spending time with my friends! haha), I was so excited that I was heading off with no real plans in place and would be just be able to explore and do exactly what I like!
I had such a wonderful week, despite being told by many that Paris would be a let down but it really wasn’t! I spend four lovely days wandering beautiful Parisian streets, people (and dog) watching, eating great food and of course visiting amazing ‘tourist spots’ like the Eiffel Tower and Musee du Louvre
I think the fact that I went with no plans and no expectations made it all the more better, before Thursday I thought I was only going to be hanging around home for the long weekend doing washing and other boring homey type things* but then all of a sudden I was off to Paris so really how could I not have the best time!
It was first experience of being truly alone in a country that speaks another language and it has inspired me to continue learning French! I managed to get by but it would of been great to be able to hold down a few conversations here and there rather than just the basics.
I am currently dreaming of my next far flung destination, who knows where that will be but I sure do hope I don’t have to wait long!
xx
* Secretly I love doing these things but in this case Paris won out 😉

Sounds fantastic! I was wondering about travelling in a foreign speaking country alone, glad to hear you survived – if you can do it, I can too!
